Guide
Tattoo aftercare, in depth
August 31, 2026

Your artist will always give you specific aftercare instructions after your session. Their instructions come first.
This guide simply explains the main steps to help your tattoo heal properly.
A tattoo is a healing wound. The surface usually heals in about two weeks, while the deeper skin can take up to one month.
The tattoo may look different while healing - the final result can only be seen once it is fully healed.

FIRST DAYS
Keep the covering on for the time your artist recommends.
Then gently wash the tattoo with clean hands, mild soap, and cool water. Pat it dry with something clean. Wash it once or twice a day and apply a very thin layer of the product recommended by your artist.
Do not use too much cream - a thin layer is enough.
DAYS 3–5
Your tattoo may start to peel or itch. This is normal.
Do not scratch or pick the skin, even when it starts to flake. Removing the flakes too early can also remove some of the ink.
FIRST TWO WEEKS
Keep your tattoo away from direct sunlight, swimming pools, the sea, and long baths. Avoid workouts that make the tattoo very sweaty and wear loose clothing that does not rub against it.
If the tattoo becomes increasingly hot, swollen, or painful, contact your artist.
