About
The White Whale Tattoo Society is a boutique tattoo studio in Milano. It was founded in 2018 by Matteo Nangeroni and Klaudia Makota, with the idea of building a studio shaped as much by the artists who pass through it as by the ones who work there every day.
Today the studio is run from Milano, alongside Giorgio Ferroni, who handles operations and the digital side of the work. Six Resident Artists work from the studio, each with their own defined style - Fine Line, Blackwork, Surrealism, Geometric, and the variations between them - alongside a continuous, weekly rotation of international Guest Artists.
The Guest Program is one of the things that sets TWWTS apart. Guest Artists are selected by aesthetic fit rather than reach, drawn from a database that covers a wide international circuit. Each guest stays for a few days and works in the studio as a host treats a peer, not as a venue treats a passing booking.
The work at TWWTS is treated as artwork, not service. A tattoo here is the result of a conversation between the Artist and the person being tattooed - reference, placement, scale, brief - and the studio is the room where that conversation happens. Most people who book at TWWTS arrive already informed. They've followed an Artist or a style across countries, and they come because they want that specific hand on the work.
