Matteo Nangeroni: a style with no name

Matteo Nangeroni is the founder of The White Whale Tattoo Society. He started tattooing in 2013 and spent the following years traveling for guest spots and conventions, building his experience in studios around the world before opening his own.
In 2018 he opened the first TWWTS with a simple idea: a studio shaped not only by its resident artists, but by the international artists who come to work there.
His work moves between Surrealism, Abstract and Blackwork, though he resists strict labels. His style has no name, but you recognise it. What connects the pieces is less a genre than a way of building images and compositions that feel personal and unexpected at once.
The same vision shaped the studio. Matteo created much of the visual identity of TWWTS, and the way the space looks and feels reflects the way he approaches a piece.
